Steve Jobs Resigns As CEO of Apple

Steve Jobs has just announced his resignation of chief executive officer of Apple for the second time since he co-founded the company in 1976.

Jobs has also been elected chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors.  Jobs is also part of Pixar’s board of directors where he was CEO for ten years.  The person taking Jobs position is Tim Cook.  Cook was formerly Apple’s chief operating officer.

The only thing that Jobs has said so far is in a valedictory letter stating his health issues that convinced him to step down from his former position.  The health issue he is talking about could very well be cancer.  Back in 2004, Jobs underwent surgery in order to remove a  rare form of pancreatic cancer.  Although the surgery was considered a success, Jobs has been confronted with health issues ever since (taking a 6-month leave of absence in January of 2009 and another one this year).
