AT&T’s newest phone

Earlier on February 3rd, At&t announced that starting on the 13th, users will be allowed to pre-order their newest phone, the Motorola Atrix, which will be coming out on March 6th.  The phone will run on the brand new 4G network and will go for $199.99 with a new two-year contract.

The Atrix will be powered by Android 2.2 and a insanely fast Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor. Besides having 1GB of RAM, it will also have a 4 inch touch screen display along with both a rear and front facing camera.

The down side? It costs $45 a month in order to get 2GB of data compared to other companies such as Verizon that offers unlimited data for $30 a month. All in all, look s like a good phone but may be a little bit pricey. Thoughts?

Dual Core Processors on Verizon phones!

At CES on Wednesday, Verizon officially announced a ton of new phones that will be put on their new 4G network which is said to be up to 10 times faster than 3G.  One of the smartphones announced that stood out to me was the DROID BIONIC.  With this being the latest phone in the droid series, it has a lot to offer.

The BIONIC has a 4.3 inch HD touch screen display, and both front and rear facing cameras (rear is 8 megapixels).  The phone will also have an HDMI output so you can watch all of your HD recorded clips on your television as well as purchase HD content and view it in full 1080p.

Besides this, the BIONIC’s most notable feature is its processor.  A new rising feature in smartphones in the upcoming future is dual core processors and the DROID BIONIC will have one with both cores running at 1GHz. To people who do not know what that means, it will be running at about twice the speed of a regular smartphone. The phone will also have 512MB of RAM. These two features alone make this smartphone incredibly fast which will increase speeds while multitasking. To help out with graphics, the BIONIC comes with Adobe Flash Player and HTML 5.

This is said to be a work device so that being said, it will come with corporate email, data security and encryption capabilities.  The phone will also have Quickoffice, full calender management, one-click conference calls, and tons of Google applications/services.

It’s hard to believe that a phone has come this far. Dual Core processor, HD camera, HTML 5, and game graphics that are console quality is insane.  Verizon definatly is setting the bar for smartphones this year.

CES will bring many incredible electronics for 2011

If you are a major follower of anything related to technology then you should know about CES (Consumer Electronics Show) coming up in the next couple days.  The show will start on Thursday and run until Sunday the 9th.  Over this time period, over 2,500 companies will be showing over 20,000 new products that will be either announced, shown or released.  Out of these 20,000 many will be tablets or tablet related products.  Hence, why people are calling 2011 “the year of the tablet”.

In the past years, the show has been the birth of Blue-ray, DVDs, HD televisions, 3-D televisions, and even all the way back to Atari’s game “Pong”.  Knowing all of this, the show promises this year’s to be bigger and better.  Well, it is definatly bigger.  There is an 11% increase in size from last year making the show cover about 1.6 million square feet!

But anyways, as stated earlier, this show seems to be mainly focused on the tablet as many companies are joining the competition such as Toshiba, Motorola, and Acer.  There will be over 80 tablet computer put on display at the show so obviously there is a lot to look forward to.

That’s it for now, in a couple days there will most likely be a ton of blogs posted because of the massive amounts of new products being released so subscribe to this blog or just keep checking back because it will be a very exciting week!

Brand new Motorola Droid Pro review!!!

A while ago I blogged about a new business based smartphone coming to Verizon called the Droid Pro. Lucky for us, I got a chance to demo the phone and make a review on it.  You can see it here. Or feel free to watch it below (along with the unboxing video below the review).  If you find it interesting, you may want to subscribe to my YouTube channel by clicking here

New Droid smartphone added to the Verizon family

Starting this Tuesday, Verizon will be taking pre-orders for the brand new Droid Pro by Motorola. The new Droid was created to be a business based phone but many will find it to be a great phone for personal use as well. The phone will be $179 with a $100 rebate and a two year voice and data plan contract.

The phone will run on Android 2.2 and will operate with a 1GHz processor, 2GB hard drive and 512MB of memory. With all of this to offer, the phone will definatly be able to move quick and snappy. Besides all of this, the memory can actually be expanded by using a standard SD card.

The biggest overall physical difference in the Droid Pro is the new keyboard layout.  Looking at the phone from a distance, it can easily be confused with a blackberry which was Motorola’s main goal here. The reason they look alike is because of the full QWERTY keyboard at the bottom of the phone instead of, like the Droid 2, a slide out keyboard on the side of the phone.  Both look great to me.

I think this will be a great phone for the average business man/woman.  The phone comes with Quickoffice Mobile Suit as well as 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities which makes the whole business use great. But the Droid Pro will also offer all of the regular Droid features for your personal use. I will be demoing this device and will post the review video when I am finished with it.

Limited Droid R2-D2 Special Edition!

For a limited time in selected stores, a special version of the Motorola Droid 2 will be available for the public.  The limited edition will be based on the robot from star wars (R2-D2).

The R2-D2 phone will include the slide out QWERTY keyboard that everyone loves along with the great 3.5mm headphone jack to make your music playing that much easier. It will include a 3.7 inch touch screen display with a 854 x 480 screen resolution and the phone itself will weigh around 6 ounces. Besides that, the phone will come with a 8GB micro SD card as well as 8GB of internal storage.

Besides all of that, the R2-D2 will have a 5 megapixel camera and will be able to shoot video in 720p HD. Furthermore, the phone will run on Android 2.2 and a 1GHz processor.

The design of the phone looks great to me but there isn’t much different than the regular Droid 2.  If interested, go pick one up while you can!

Motorola launches its newest phone this winter

Earlier this year, Motorola announced their new phone, the Motorola Defy.  They recently announced that it will be released to the public this winter for T-Mobile users.

The main appearence of the phone is the shell-like structure built on it in order to make it “life proof”.  Motorola says that it can resist impact, waterproof, and dust proof.  This is the first phone that will actually be able to resist water.  Motorola also stated that you would be able to take the phone in the shower and it would not be affected at all.  If this is all true, the phone will be a great option to those people who are clumbsy or just not careful with their cell phones.

The phone itself has a 3.7 inch touch screen with 480×854 resolution.  It also includes a 5 megapixel camera along with flash on the back of the phone. The Defy also includes a QWERTY touch screen keyboard that many reviewers have said it to be fast and accurate. Also, the new form of typing, swype, will be installed on the phone for all of you who like to text or type faster.

On the down side, the Defy still runs on the outdated Android 2.1 software and has only a 800MHz processor compared to most other smartphones that run on Android 2.2 and 1GHz processor.  It doesn’t support 3G networking yet but that is likely to change not too long after it is released this winter.  On the bright side, the Defy is one of the few smart phones that can run Adobe Flash 10.1 so you can fully enjoy the features of the internet right on your phone.

I think this phone will be a great addition to the smartphone “family”.  Besides being able to run Adobe flash and having a 5 megapixel camera, the fact that the phone is waterproof is just amazing.

What are you thoughts?
