If you are a customer of Verizon’s land line phone, internet, or television, then it might be safe to say to expect some sort of problems in the very near future.
Earlier today, some 45,000 Verizon employees went on strike anywhere from Washington to Massachusetts because of a failed contract between Verizon and their employees. The contract would have included health care coverage, work rules, and pensions. The two groups involved in the strike are The Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Strikers have stated that they will continue until an agreement is met.
If you are a customer of Verizon’s wireless plan, you have nothing to worry about. It is the customers of Verizon’s land line phone and internet service that might encounter problems.

Short blog today on something I recently read and could not believe.
If you currently have a Verizon carrier then you should know about their “New every two” program in which after two years of having a phone, you are eligible for a $30-$100 discount on your next phone of choice. Well starting on January 16th, this program will no longer be available to new customers and current customers will not be re-admitted after using their current two year upgrade.
Like I said, short post but I really couldn’t believe this. Maybe Verizon is power hungry and want more money from upcoming users wanting to buy the iPhone 4? Not sure but it’s a pretty big disappointment to those who have Verizon as of now.
That’s right, as the title says, multi-core processors have now come to the mobile phone industry. Earlier today, LG announced that Europe and Asia will be the first to see the first phone with multi-core processing power, the Optimus 2X. The smartphone is a Google Android phone and comes with the dual core Tegra 2 chip made by Nvidia.
Now not too much is known about the phone but the dual-core is enough to draw some people in. With this new processor(s), the phone’s overall speed will increase significantly, it will be able to playback 1080p video without any lag, and it is said to increase webpage loading by an outstanding 33%!
So although not much else is known about the phone, I already give it a big rating because of the dual-core processor. What are your thoughts? Comment below!
Earlier this week, Verizon announced the arrival of their newest Samsung phone. The Samsung Continuum. The phone was released today (Nov. 11) only for order for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a new two year contract. On November 18th, the Continuum will be available for purchase.
One of the main things people will notice about this phone is that it has not one, but two Super AMOLED display screens. The main display is 3.4 inches with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The second screen, which is a customizable ticker display, is 1.8 inches. This ticker display offers users up-to-date news, sports scores, finance, and social networking updates.
The outside of this phone is pretty compact and thin. It has a 5 megapixel camera with a LED flash. Along with this camera, it can record video in 720p HD which is a pretty common feature in the newer smartphones.
The phone will be running on Android 2.1 and will have a 1GHz processor making this phone just about as fast as you can get it. It will also have 512MB of ROM and 384 MB of RAM.
This phone is looking to be great. The only downside is that it comes in one color, black. Which isn’t too bad but to some people, they may want different colors. What do you think?
Earlier today, Apple announced that one of their latest products, the iPad, will be available to Verizon Wireless users on October 28th. The iPad and its bundle will cost $630 for a 16GB model, $730 for a 32GB model and $830 for a 64GB model. Besides this, Verizon will also offer a $20 monthly data plan for up to 1GB of data.
Although this is great, Verizon will unfortunatly not be selling 3G versions of the iPad. To replace this, they will be selling the regular Wi-Fi iPad with their own mobile hot spots which will allow users to connect to the internet anywhere where the 3G network can be used.
Many people believe that this is a start to something great. With Apple making a “bond” with Verizon Wireless we could start seeing Verizon selling more Apple products such as the iPhone as early as early next year.
What are your thoughts on the Apple-Verizon bond?
The R2-D2 phone will include the slide out QWERTY keyboard that everyone loves along with the great 3.5mm headphone jack to make your music playing that much easier. It will include a 3.7 inch touch screen display with a 854 x 480 screen resolution and the phone itself will weigh around 6 ounces. Besides that, the phone will come with a 8GB micro SD card as well as 8GB of internal storage.
Besides all of that, the R2-D2 will have a 5 megapixel camera and will be able to shoot video in 720p HD. Furthermore, the phone will run on Android 2.2 and a 1GHz processor.
The design of the phone looks great to me but there isn’t much different than the regular Droid 2. If interested, go pick one up while you can!
Recently announced, the new Samsung Fascinate is going to be available for public pick-up later this week (or tomorrow online) for Verizon customers. It will be sold for $199 with a 2-year contract. It will be hard for the phone to fit into the Android “lineup” but by looking at the specs, it does a nice job of fitting in perfectly.
The Fascinate is part of the Galaxy S lineup and the first of its kind to come to Verizon. Like I said, it does fit in very well. The phone will have a 4 inch touch screen with 2GB of internal storage and the customer will have the option of upgrading it with a 16GB MicroSD memory card. The Fascinate’s 1500 mAh battery is said to be about equivalent to the Motorola Droid x battery meaning that it should definitely last you a decent amount of time.
The phone itself looks to be amazing. It will have a 1GHz processor making navigating the phone quick and easy. Adding to that, the Fascinate will have high end 3D graphics and video acceleration bringing multimedia and gaming to a whole new level for customers.
Also, the phone will include a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and will also allow the user to record video in 720p! The Fascinate will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability and will also include a 3.5mm headphone jack for all of your music and media playing needs.
To me, this phone looks great and I think it will fit in with the Android “family” perfectly (considering it is better than some Android phones).
